The annual welcome week event hosted by UMKC LGBTQIA Programs and Services will be Thursday, August 28th from 11am-2pm at the University Walkway—located between the UMKC Atterbury Student Success Center and the Miller Nichols Library.
It allows new and current UMKC students the opportunity to engage with members of the UMKC and Kansas City LGBTQIA community, as well as enjoy some free Ice Cream and Slushies from Kona-Ice!
Don’t forget to stop by our booth to learn about the groups and resources found at the LIKEMELighthouse!
Join us at the LIKEME Lighthouse every second Monday of the month at 7 p.m. for snarky readings from the very worst of books that celebrities have “written.” Each month, some of the funniest people in the area read from some of the worst books ever written — all for laughs. It’s irreverent, it’s ridiculous, it’s fun.
Philip Hooser, our host, reads these celebrity books so you don’t have to! He presents fan favorites and a few new tidbits — and it’s all insane, inane, and in bad taste. JUST the thing to finish off a Monday!
The LIKEME Lighthouse will be closed for the Labor Day holiday: Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday Aug. 29 through Sept. 1. We will reopen on Tuesday Sept. 2 at noon. We will not have Tuesday Movie Night on Sept. 2, but will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
August 26, 7 p.m.
